Have you started planning your table decorations for New Year’s Eve yet? RiverBlogger has a few ideas to get you started:

  • Add countdown clocks to the table. This might make the evening even more fun!

  • Use candles and crystal to decorate the table.
  • Or decorate your table country style with wooden plates and natural colours to give it a true South African feel.  It’s a bit different compared to overseas countries where they have a white New Year.

  • Also don’t forget that your food and drinks can add to the décor. Even just a glass of bubbly garnished with some fruit might add a simplistic New Year’s Eve table light up.

Christmas on Vaal

Christmas on Vaal

They say decorating Hotel for Christmas can be quite challenging. What Christmas décor have you used this year?

According to Christmas World having a themed Christmas in your Hotel makes it a little easier. They suggest themes like trees, Toyland, a Victorian theme, a frosty Christmas theme or even a vintage Christmas theme.

For some ideas on a vintage Christmas theme, have a look at this link: Vintage Christmas

This year the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club made the Tree of Life their Christmas theme, which has become the focal point of the Hotel. Matthews Restaurant and Inyama Grill House both have their own Christmas trees as well, but the Tree of Life is the main Christmas attraction in the Hotel’s reception this year.

How do you survive in a hotel when you need to stay there for a period of time? RiverBlogger has put together some tips for the travellers among us – be it business or pleasure:

Bring someone with

Bring someone along

  • Know if you should take someone with. Some people might be fun to be with for more than a week; others might drive you mad.
  • Pick the right Hotel. Consider the price range, the services the Hotel provides and also have a look at its rating.
  • Unpack your bag rather than living from your bag. It’s easier to find things this way. Just remember to check all the drawers and cupboards before you leave.
  • Use the Hotel’s services. At the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club you can even try out different restaurants such as Matthews Restaurant and Terrace Café, as well as Inyama Grill House. You could even order room service to add to your dining options. The Resort also boasts an eighteen hole golf course, pitch and putt, watersports and occasional wine tasting opportunities.
  • Do touristy things. When visiting the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club consider enquiring about their Petit Verdot Moonlight Cruises, play some golf or visit the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve. Have a look at RiverBlogger’s Tourist Attraction options in the area here: Tourist Attractions in Vereeniging.

  • Last, but not least: Stay positive. Many guests make or break their Hotel stays through their own behaviour. Be friendly to one of the staff members and see how they go the extra mile for you.
