Well, as far as River Reports go this is really one for the history books as we have had a lovely, snowy week at Riviera on Vaal. Tuesday surprised us with a beautiful blanket of snow covering the entire Riviera on Vaal golf course and giving Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club a special shine. With Glüwein and Truffles on offer at the hotel it almost felt like Christmas in August. With the rest of the week still quite chilly, the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club warmed things up with a delicious Women’s Day lunch in Matthews Restaurant this week, sharing their pride of South African women with their guests and the locals of the Vaal Triangle.

This was also the week for the most views on blogonvaal and we are delighted to welcome all the new blogonvaal’ers! It’s exciting to share photos, stories and Riviera on Vaal information with people around the globe.

What to remember for the coming weeks at Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club:

  • Due to the chilly weather, we want to remind locals and guests about Matt’s Foundation, a non-profit organization that Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club supports. They provide blankets, clothes and food to unprivileged children of the Vaal Community. For more information on Matt’s Foundation, send an email to helpus@mattsfoundation.co.za.
  • Inyama Grill House is promoting a Beer and Rugby Special from the 18th of August until the 6th of October. All Castle Beers will be half price during the games.
  • Zorgvliet Spa is running a Women’s Month Special in August, which includes a body scrub, hot stone massage and a two course spa meal for R550.00 per person. For September, they are promoting the Spa-tacular Spring Special to get your feet and toes sandal-ready. They also have the Nimue Spring Special for men which will be running from September to the 31rst of October.
  • Thinking of starting a new hobby? Riviera on Vaal Country Club will be hosting a Ladies Pitch and Putt Champagne Breakfast on Saturdays from 1 September.

Can you believe that the year has already reached August? After Mandela Month’s excitement and Riviera on Vaal’s involvement in the creation of Christmas decorations for Matt’s Foundation’s fundraising, we enter a new month of anticipation. A very happy Women’s Month to all of the lovely ladies out there from the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club.

What to look out for during Women’s Month:

  • Zorgvliet Spa has a promotion on the go for Women’s Month, which includes a friction body scrub, hot stone back, neck and shoulder massage and a two course spa meal for only R550.00 per person. Contact Zorgvliet Spa for more information.
  • The Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club will also be hosting a buffet lunch at Matthews Restaurant on Women’s Day (9 August 2012). Treat your partner to lunch at only R195.00 per person. For bookings, contact Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club on 016 420 1300.
  • Also remember to keep your weekends open in August, as Inyama is promoting a Sunday Braai Buffet. Bring your family and friends to Inyama at only R150.00 per person. Bookings can be made at reservations via resman@rivieraonvaal.co.za from the 5th of August.
  • Don’t forget to pay your existing or new membership at the Riviera on Vaal Country Club before the end of August and qualify for many perks at the Riviera on Vaal Resort, including spa discounts and monthly free rounds of golf.
  • Use Women’s Month as an excuse to bring your girlfriends to the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club for High Tea. Spoil yourselves with this promotion which runs every Saturday at 14h00. Bookings are essential.
  • Remember that the Kids eat for Free Promotion (for kids under the age of 12) at Matthews Restaurant, running during the week from Mondays to Thursdays until the end of August.
  • Another promotion that will be valid until the end of this month is the two course dinner beside the Vaal River at Matthews Restaurant. At only R105.00 per person you can indulge in Riviera on Vaal’s superb cuisine.
  • Inyama’s Soup of the Day Special is still running. For only R40.00 per person you can enjoy their soup of the day, complemented with freshly baked bread rolls. Members can have this meal for as little as R35.00 per person.
  • At R60.00 per person, you could also visit Inyama during the week for a Basket and Two Beers.

With a new Tourism Grading Committee recently named and the Department of Labour’s demand of increasing employee wages in the hospitality industry, we are all up and running to ensure only the best for customers in the tourism and hospitality sphere of Southern Africa. From Mothers’ Day to Fathers’ Day and now onto Women’s Day, so is the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club. Could it be that we are already in July? Wow!

So, without further ado, here are the River Reports for the coming week at Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club:

Saturday:

  • Bikers Breakfast Special at R100.00 per person.
  • High Tea at 14h00. If you were not in time with booking for this week, remember to book for next Saturday, same time; same place.
  • Lunch is also served to the public at R220.00 per person at Matthews Restaurant.
  • Wine Tasting at the Riviera on Vaal between 12h00 and 16h00

Sunday:

  • Bikers Breakfast Special at R100.00 per person.
  • Sunday Lunch: Roast Buffet Luncheon at R165.00 per person, R50.00 for kids under twelve and kids under the age of six may eat for free.
  • There’s also the Sunday Braai Buffet at Inyama Grill House at R150.00 per person, valid every first Sunday of the month from the 5th of August.
  • Wine Tasting at the Riviera on Vaal between 12h00 and 16h00

Monday to Friday:

  • Inyama Grill House promotes their Soup of the Day at R40.00 per person, including fresh homemade rolls and discount for members.
  • Buy one draught and get another for free with Inyama Grill House‘s most recent promotion: For only R60.00 you’ll receive a basket as well as two draughts.
  • Winter Breakfast Promotion at Matthews Restaurant: R99.00 per person.
  • Dinner Promotion at Matthews Restaurant: 2 course meal, R105.00 per person, Monday – Thursday.
  • Kids under the age of 12 eat for free, Monday– Friday evenings at Matthews Restaurant.
  • The above promotions are valid until 31 August.
