With Earth Day on the way, the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club is on a mission to create awareness about the importance of environmental responsibility. How else than to share some tips and ideas on how to green your picnic, one of the many things to do outdoors with families and friends at the Riviera on Vaal while appreciating nature and what it has to offer. Create some additional family fun for your loved ones while visiting the Riviera on Vaal by enjoying a picnic on the banks of the Vaal River.

Some tips on how to green your picnic:

  • Go local. What better place to have a picnic than in your local parks or resorts like the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club?
  • Reuse when you can. Picnics are a great way to use things that are reusable, including utensils, drinking cups, glass food containers (packed very carefully) and blankets.
  • Learn about your surroundings. We tend to forget that nature has so much to offer. This is the ideal opportunity to teach your kids about certain insects or the local trees growing in your area. Bring along some binoculars or a magnifying glass and teach them more about the little things in life.

The Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club has created a new board on Pinterest, called Riviera Real Weddings, which includes photos of real weddings that took place at the Resort.

Riviera Real Weddings

It was noted that the Pinterest board on wedding ideas is the most popular board on the Riviera on Vaal’s Pinterest page and it was therefore decided to create another board to show pinners what the Riviera on Vaal has to offer as a wedding venue on Vaal. Not only does the Resort boast beautiful river views, it also has a number of reception venues to choose from, an on-site wedding chapel and depending on the wedding package chosen, the wedding couple also receives accommodation including bed and breakfast.

The Riviera on Vaal golf course offers great engagement and wedding photography opportunities, as does the Sir Herbert Baker designed Country Club.

Not only does this new Pinterest board promote the Riviera on Vaal’s undeniably great wedding options, it also promotes the relevant local wedding photographers, florists and other wedding professionals in the area who took part in making the weddings as memorable as possible. Therefore the Riviera on Vaal urges wedding professionals to send their contact details to press@pressonvaal.co.za to create link exchanges between themselves and the Riviera on Vaal Resort and in that way make every wedding at Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club a perfect one!

Sundowner Cruise on the Vaal River

Sundowner Cruise on the Vaal River

When last did you enjoy a sundowner, let alone on a cruise boat on the Vaal River?

It happens too often that we omit paying attention to the little things in life (which are simultaneously majestic) like sunsets. Have you ever noticed how the light becomes opaque during that time of day? How the birds start chirping while getting ready for night time and how the Vaal River seems as serene as never before? Twilight is RiverBlogger’s favourite time of the day and what better way than to spend it on the Petit Verdot Floating Restaurant at the Riviera on Vaal Hotel and Country Club with a sundowner in hand?

Not only will you be able to see the Riviera on Vaal Resort from another angle, but you will also experience the twittering and fluttering of the birds of the Vaal. It might just take you away from reality even if it is just for an hour.

The next Sundowner Cruise will be going out on the Vaal River on 9 March 2013. Don’t miss out!
